GLOBALGIVING.COM will be fundraising for Centre for Reconstruction and Development (CREDEV) in the United States from 01 to 30 September 2010.   The fundraising is to support our programme on basic education in Mbaw community where less than 50% of children are able to attend primary school.  They are vulnerable to poor education because of the situation of their community which is close to the Cameroon/Nigeria border being an indigenous community.     We want to improve the learning conditions for these underprivileged children to attain primary school leaving certificate at basic education.  There are several reasons why there is a high illiteracy rate in this community.  Schools lack qualified teachers and instructive materials to teach and children lack basic school needs such as exercise books and pens, let alone textbooks, let alone computers that is a luxury and much more.  Over 90% of the teachers are First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) holders with no teaching experience.  There are schools that have never had a permanent classroom, though they have been operating for over 5-years.  As such they operate in sheds or even under shades in appalling learning conditions.  Most of the pupils who attend these schools complete without being able to read or write well.

The objective of this fundraising is therefore to support the efforts of the government and Parent Teachers Association (PTA) in this community to give their children better education, to change this community.  CREDEV want to improve learning conditions in Mbaw community from 10% to 25% by end of year 3.   I want you to volunteer for us in one way or another by: hosting the fundraising link on your website; Provide online skilled computer support as a communication specialist to contact donors on our behalf whose information will be withheld in privacy.  We also want volunteers to spread the news by telling a friend, family member or colleagues and use networks or their personal websites for us to be successful in this process.  I will be grateful to read from you on the kind of support you want to give us and to discuss the terms and conditions of your participation. 

The Centre for Reconstruction and Development is an NGO (non-profit) registered in Cameroon as an equivalent of 501(c)(3) organization abroad.  CREDEV is an autonomous civil society organisation, whose purpose is development, charitable and organised to advance sustainable social change in disadvantaged and poor communities in the society.  Though operating for 5-years now, we are a poorly resourced organisation with no permanent or regular funding source for our programmes.  That is why we are very grateful to turn to GLOBALGIVING for fundraising support and also to you to facilitate the process to be successful.  The full project is being developed in a document for donors to read the details that will to be downloaded on the fundraising page of http://www.globalgiving.com as from the above date.  *Support us to change the world’s poor children to be responsible citizens tomorrow*.
