Save Lives With Clean Drinking Water in Cameroon

    Hi Friends,

You are welcome for visiting Centre for Reconstruction and Development (CREDEV) fundraising blog! I want to tell you a bit more about CREDEV and an exciting new opportunity we have been given by GlobalGiving this December!

CREDEV works in North West of Cameroon - Africa providing social change services, particularly rural water supply to poor communities. Since we were founded in 2004, we have assisted 5 communities with our services. For instance, just last year we helped Shi-Nyamboh by providing a water point for her community.

Currently, we were selected by the GlobalGiving Foundation to participate in its Open December Challenge; a fundraising opportunity for nonprofit organizations working around the world. The cause of our fundraising is prevention of deaths in Mbaw, a poor community from water-related diseases such as: diarrhoea, dysentery, filariasis, typhoid and ascaris. If we can supply pipe-borne drinking water to this community, we will save lives, particularly those of children dying from secretory diarrhoea. Clean drinking water is extremely scarce here at peak dry periods to the extent that, people tend to drink with cows from the same surface water just to survive.

In order to succeed in GlobalGiving’s Open Challenge, CREDEV must raise $4,000 from at least 50 donors by 22 December 2010. Should we meet this threshold, we will be given a permanent spot on GlobalGiving’s website, where we have the potential to benefit from corporate relationships, exposure to new donor networks and access to dozens of online fundraising opportunities for my organisation. This will permanently support our efforts of advancing sustainable development to grassroots communities.

Please help us reach the threshold of $4,000 from 50 donors! Be one of the first people to make a donation at http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/save-lives-with-water-in-cameroon !  Not only will your donation help children and women in Mbaw community but, it will help us take advantage of a long-term fundraising opportunity!

We also need your help to spread the word to others! Please share this opportunity with your friends and family, colleagues and the networks you are associated with!

    Thank you for your support!

    Best regard,

    Mbuti Mboyam (Executive Director)
